Freeholder Deborah E. Ciambrone

Deputy Director Deborah Ciambrone was elected in 2009. She has lived in Passaic County since 1967. She and her husband, Tony, have resided in Wayne since 1977. They have one daughter, Jillian, who is a special education teacher working with autistic children.

Deborah earned a BA in History from Stonehill College and a MA in Social Science from William Paterson University. She has been employed as a teacher by the Bloomingdale School District since 1970. Since 2001, she has been employed part time by the New Jersey Education Association as a professional development trainer and member representative.

Freeholder Ciambrone has always been active in organizations affiliated with the teaching profession. She has served the Bloomingdale Teachers Association as treasurer, negotiator, and association representative. Since 2000, she has served as the Association President. Deborah was elected to the Passaic County Education Association Executive Board in 2003 and 2005. She was elected to the New Jersey Education Association Delegate Assembly in 2005 and 2007. Since 2003, she has served on the Passaic County Professional Development Committee.

Deborah has dedicated her life to the education of children. She served as Vice President of the Home and School Association of Our Lady of the Valley School in Wayne. She has served on the School Level Planning Committee at the Bergen School. In addition she presently serves on the school’s I&RS Committee which provides assistance to parents and teachers of students who are not reaching their potential. She has been recognized for her dedication. Deborah has received the Board of Education Award and been nominated twice to Who’s Who among America’s Teachers. She has also been nominated twice for the Teacher of the Year at the Bergen Middle School. In addition she received the Volunteer Award for her work with special programs at Our Lady of the Valley.

In 2011, Freeholder Deputy Director Ciambrone serves as Chairman of the Health, Education and Community Affairs Committee and serves as a member of the Administration and Finance Committee. She is also a member of the Passaic County Board of Social Services and a member of the Board of Estimates for Passaic County Technical Institute and Passaic County Community College.

Deborah was motivated to seek office because of her concerns for the citizens and taxpayers of Passaic County. She is dedicated to being fiscally responsible, keeping in mind that the decisions she makes must be governed by what is best for the people she represents.
